The shelving the previous owners had in the closets was very makeshift and kinda dilapidated, so we gutted the closets and my husband and brother-in-law built these shelves: we wanted them to be functional as clothing closets at some point, but I also wanted plenty of storage options for my current craft room needs.

This is how I store most of my fabric scraps, sorted by color or theme. The large Sterilite storage drawer unit sitting on the floor stores more fabric and projects. The empty black rolling cart from Ikea normally stored all my photography equipment.

I had intentions to cover the box with paint or paper…but clearly that was a ways down my to-do list. The other shelves in the middle hold my vinyl, separated by permanent, removable, and iron-on. The fabric totes were a gift from someone years ago and the pink plastic bin came from Dollar Tree.

The right half of this closet is a mix of Sterilite organizers again. Everything else you see in this closet is a whole lot of junk, including everything stashed on the very top shelf. Lots of memorabilia…and junk. Hopefully these items will get decluttered before my next craft room a craft hoarder can dream….

As you pivot around the room, there are two windows against a long wall yay for natural lighting! I usually put the table perpendicular to the window so I could stand on either side of the table to work and take pictures. No pictures of this! My most favorite are these adorable plastic containers with screw on tops.

They are the perfect size for all my floating craft supplies: buttons, gems, tape, felt balls, pom poms, etc. Feeling clever, I designed? punny toppers to coordinate with each of my supplies. I created twelve sayings in all and love how they look on top of the containers.

Once all my containers are assembled, I plan on putting all my supplies on my wooden shelves and enjoying my clean counters! I am happiest when I am creating something. However, when life is messy and the craft room looks like a hurricane went through it.

Then you can believe I am most un-creative. I have compiled some of my favorite craft organization tips and storage ideas for you to help keep the crafty things at bay and the motivation flowing!

Chelsea also makes really great use of pegboard in her craft room. I love this because it organizes all of your tools and you can see everything! Decorative storage bins are always a great way to go to store your items. You can make them on with your decor or theme and you can keep messy supplies at bay.

What I mean, is that the crafter put some thought into how the room was put together. There is a flow of colors or even a statement in the room where they create.

Susan does this really well in her craft room she shares on Organized In fact, she shares how to best organize your items by like kind items together.

Chelsea also makes really great use of pegboard in her craft room. I love this because it organizes all of your tools and you can see everything!

Decorative storage bins are always a great way to go to store your items. You can make them on with your decor or theme and you can keep messy supplies at bay. Check out Modge Podge Rocks and her nifty storage bins for more inspiration.

One of my favorite things to see from fellow crafters is not only excellent craft room organization but also an organization with style. What I mean, is that the crafter put some thought into how the room was put together. There is a flow of colors or even a statement in the room where they create.
